its “funny” to me that the degree or fate, or the degree or karma however you want to phrase it, it also generally the age you begin your Saturn return…I know this is now coincidence since Astrology lets us experience and play with synchronicity in a tangible way, but oh how I love the thread here.
I have also done 4 chart readings since the Cancer New Moon with folks who are either IN their Saturn return in Pisces, or have a strong Cancer or Capricorn placement. Ahhhh, synchronicity, the divine timing.
I also love that the word Karma in Sanskrit translates to “action” or rather, it connects actions with results, but has also picked up a few other connotations in its lifetime. Pun intended.
This Capricorn Full Moon, the second of this Cancer Season, is a very special occurrence for this season, and is one of the bigger astrological events of the year. It is not usual for us to receive a second chance to work with an energy in this way, dont let that create pressure, but more of a sense of presence to just be with whatever is arising.
Capricorn is represented by the sea goat, basically a goat with a fish tail :) which is a funny image to pair with a sign of integrity, structure, competence, building and scaling. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the father of time, structure, karma, and lessons to be learned. Saturn is currently retrograde in Pisces, giving us space to rest and reflect on the creative structures we have created within and without our lives.
We crawl away from the shores of Cancer Season and towards the plains, valleys and fields that Leo likes to prowl and play within on Monday, July 22nd. But until then we have access to the depths that Cancer energy can help us tread, leading us to have a full heart before heading out into the world and sharing what we desire with the help of Leo energy.
In astrology there are what we call the “critical degrees” and the anaretic degrees in astrology are 0 and 29, leading a heightened sense, but also potentially to crisis points in choice if the native has a placement at either of these degrees. The critical degrees are as follows :
Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are 0, 13 and 26.
Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) are 8, 9, 21, 22.
Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) are 4 and 17.
On this Full Moon the Sun in Cancer is at 29 degrees, the Moon in Capricorn is at 29 degrees. Neptune in Pisces is at 29 degrees. All at the degree of fate, or karma, for the energy they are currently in. If you have a strong placement in one of these energies, regardless of the degree, there will be a feeling of completion around something specific to your system.
Or maybe you are feeling a culmination towards something you have been working for a very long time. We also have Uranus at 26 degrees of Taurus, and Mercury at 26 degrees of Leo and in its pre-retrograde shadow. Chiron is at 23 degrees Aries, so these guys are all moving slowly, but still moving towards that karmic degree as well. Leading to a building of completion or a sense of new freedom to pursue that desire, dream or goal.
While we are always working with an opposition (less easeful) on a Full Moon, we do have a lot of support coming in from the outer planets. The Sun in Cancer is trine (easeful, inviting collaboration) to Neptune in Pisces, lending a soft, gentle, and compassionate hand to the Sun’s opposition to Pluto Rx in Aquarius.
This opposition to Pluto Rx is inviting change around how you may play the victim in life?
Where are the places in life where you do not fully engage life as it is? Not how you desire it to be?
Where do you have expectations around how your life “should” go? And are you the one responsible for this path, or is life happening to you, not for you?
The Moon at 29 degrees Capricorn is conjunct (amplifying each other) Pluto Rx in Aquarius, currently at 0 degrees, which is also a critical degree in astrology. Giving Pluto, even tho it is currently retrograde, a really clear and clarifying energy behind it.
I picture it coming in and doing a nice spring cleaning of my psyche, but in like a Beauty and the Beast kinda way where its like talking to the birds and flowers and trees as it works…okay, I also learned recently that there are folks out there who cannot visualize…like when I say the word apple, I see an apple in my head. Some just see the word, some see a color, some dont see anything at all. WILD.
The Full Moon also has a trine (easful, supportive) to Mars at 0 degrees of Gemini, and to Uranus at 26 degrees of Taurus. To me, Mars is giving us some playful, aligned action energy towards a thought we keep having, a story we want to write, or a place we want to visit locally. With Uranus here as well, it is maybe going to surprise you what shakes out of this Full Moon, or what culminates, or what completes within this time.
Try not to get caught in the breeze. Breath, stay with yourself.
The Full Moon is also sextile (easeful, lending support) to Neptune in Pisces at 29 degrees, adding to the culminating of a completion, or the ending of a karmic cycle or pattern. When a planet is in the 29th degree of a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) it is said to heighten and intensify the access to our connection to karma, spirituality, mystical knowledge and wisdom that is meant for us. This may be an energy that is also affecting this Full Moon, Neptune in Pisces is the Mystic, the poet, the magician and the artist, but it is also the illusionist, the creator of masks and an energy that can consume you and drag you under the surface.
The degrees of 0 and 29 are asking for clarity through evaluation and aligned action. With Uranus lurking around and in aspect to both the Sun and Moon, there may a sense of urgency, instability or you may weigh all of your options, but then make a quick and unthoughtful choice…just slow down. If anything feels urgent or chaotic or electrifying this weekend try to trust and breath through it before responding.
This last Capricorn Full Moon is here to evaluate the growth, the expansion, and the maturation that we have made since the first one on June 21st.
It is here to show us how we have transformed and shaken ourselves loose from the controlling grip of a pattern, karmic cycle, familial tie, or societal should.
Lean into these last few days of Cancer season, and before Mercury goes Retrograde on August 4th through the 26th, beginning its pre-shadow on July 19th. I say chill this weekend, soak up your changes, evaluate your growth, and see yourself a little more clearly, in your own eyes.
Happy Full Moon folks! I cannot thank you enough for being here, for reading all of this and for coming to me for chart readings. I really cannot explain what getting to write these reports means, and then for people to actually READ them, dreams.
so much love,
Lo
